In 1923 Claude Hopkins wrote THE book on effective advertising. Every marketing and advertising expert has recommended that anyone having anything to do with advertising read this book.
Here's what famed advertising legend David Oglivy said, "Nobody at any level, should have anything to do with advertising, until they have read this book 7 times."
I believe he said that because no other book so clearly lays out everything you need to create advertising that sells. The book has a lot more to it than just simply testing.
The problem is the book is very hard to get through because it was written in 1923. Further, the examples are out of date and because of the archaic writing style it's hard to understand what he is saying in many parts of the book. Finally, he wrote it as a text book so it's not exactly an easy read.
Until recently your only option was to try to get through the extremely old english, dated references, and sometimes outdated information.
The new edition has several changes.
First, I have changed the tone from a boring text book to more compelling copywriting. Second, I have changed references to mail order to direct marketing companies. Third, I have written the book for ANYONE who uses advertising today, rather than just those in the advertising industry. Finally, I have updated the book to relect changes in advertising because of the Internet.
There are other editions with color ads and authors comments, but this is the ONLY edition that is completely updated and rewritten for the new economy.
